Howard Jones is returning to the live stage with a UK tour celebrating 40 years of his classic 1985 debut album, ‘Dream Into Action’.
The seminal record – which peaked at No. 2 in the UK and cracked the US Top 10 – delivered global hits including No One Is To Blame and Things Can Only Get Better, which earned a new following after being featured in Netflix’s ‘Stranger Things’.
Now, four decades on from its release in a year that also saw Jones perform at Live Aid at Wembley Stadium and the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, he is bringing the LP to venues across the country, launching in Bath on November 12 and playing through Leicester on November 22.
“That album was written while I was on the road,” he says of the record. “I had a studio set-up in every dressing room where we were playing shows. The excitement of being on the road was infused into those songs.
“I feel really pleased that the songs will resonate today. I’ve always said it’s up to us to make things happen. There are times when we can no longer be bystanders.”
The hitmaker adds: “This is the best job in the world, playing songs that people love, and hopefully leaving t hem inspired by the lyrics. I’ve always thought my role was that of a cheerleader, as we all struggle with the ups and downs of daily life.
“We all need a boost when we are trying to put our dreams into action. At the end of the day, my job is to put on an amazing show and leave people buzzing with a new energy, ready to deal with whatever life throws our way.”
