Hazell Dean insists her decision to retire from performing won’t stop her from recording new music. 

Back in August, the Whatever I Do (Wherever I Go) hitmaker confirmed “the time has come” for her to retire while on stage at Pride in Hastings. 

While it appeared she was turning her back on music completely, the Hi-NRG superstar shared an extended statement on social media assuring fans she’d be back in the studio soon. 

“The prospect of retiring from live shows has been on the horizon for a couple of years now,” she penned.

 “When venues started opening up the show enquiries started to come in thick and fast, which meant I had to make a decision – do I take the bookings, or do I go ahead with my plans?

“2022 would have been a very busy year for me, but I just don’t want to do it anymore. After 50+ years  – I’m done!”

Despite insisting “there’ll be no more live shows despite the numerous calls, emails and texts we’ve received in the last 48 hours to trying to get me to change my mind,” she revealed new music is on the horizon.  

“YES I will still be recording (at a very, very leisurely pace) and I will be back in the studio soon working on some remixes for the upcoming Dean & Ware Collections, and of course will be recording new material in 2022.

“I’m very excited for the new projects ahead of me, both professional and personal.”

‘The Dean & Ware Collection Vol. 1’ is due September 24, with further details and pre-order links to be announced shortly.

Hazell released her latest studio album ‘Nightlife’ in 2015.
