Gwen Stefani isn’t ruling out working more with No Doubt after the band’s upcoming Coachella reunion shows.
The Just A Girl hitmakers will play shows across two weekends at the festival this month, with Gwen telling Nylon in a new cover feature interview that she’s “open” to more gigs with the band.
Despite there being “no concrete plans for touring or new music”, according to the publication, Gwen shared: “Well, I don’t have a crystal ball. Most things have surprised me in life. One of the things I’ve learned is to be present in the moment and try to absorb what’s happening around me instead of looking ahead.”
“[Coachella is] going to be a really nice bow to tie on the relationship, because we were kids [when we met].
“I already know what it’s going to feel like because we’re just so in sync when we’re onstage. It’s going to feel like riding a bike again. We’re going to be laughing, and we’re going to look at each other and go, ‘Oh my gosh — there you are’.”
While Gwen admitted the group’s reunion has been “a long time coming” and “something that we were going to do”, she remained uncertain about making new music together as it would mean “leaving [her] family”.
She continued: “And if I didn’t come home with a song, I’d be like, ‘Oh my God, I’m such a loser – I didn’t have dinner with my family, and I didn’t write a song. I wasted an entire day of my life trying to be in No Doubt again’.”
No Doubt announced their comeback in a social media clip back in January, after the reunion talks reportedly took place in December with the group lined up for a $10 million payday.
It comes after festival organisers had wanted to reform Talking Heads and Sublime for the event, and while the reaction to No Doubt’s first gigs in almost a decade has been overwhelmingly positive, it seems they’re a one-off for now.
However, sources close to the band have warned not to expect a major tour to immediately follow the reunion set, as Gwen already has plans in place for the second half of the year to promote new solo music, due for release this summer.
Earlier this year, Gwen released the single Purple Irises with husband Blake Shelton, while No Doubt released their latest LP, ‘Push And Shove’, in 2012.
