Girls Aloud will reportedly be joined by Years & Years star Olly Alexander during select dates on their upcoming reunion tour.
The Call The Shots group will play a massive run of shows in arenas across the UK throughout May and June, with Olly – who will represent the UK at Eurovision in Malmö, Sweden – due to feature throughout the run.
“The girls have been close with Olly for some time and know how isolating it can be when scandal hits,” insiders tell The Sun’s Bizarre column, referring to campaigns for the star to boycott the Contest due to Israel’s involvement amid conflict with Hamas in Gaza.
“They don’t think Olly has done anything wrong and behind the scenes have been making sure he is OK and letting him know he has their full support if he needs anything.”
While schedules are still being worked out, the group – starring Cheryl, Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh – are “really keen to make it happen”, according to sources.
“He brought out Kimberley and Nicola during his Mighty Hoopla festival set last year and it went down a storm,” they add. “They’d love to relive that moment on stage as a full group.
“They want Olly to get his bounce back and think him coming out to perform with them would be the perfect tonic.”
It comes after the group recently opened up about their huge plans for the shows, which are set to include classic hits and deep cuts from the group’s 21-year history.
