Gary Numan - Intruder

Gary Numan’s US ‘Intruder’ tour is on hold after the singer tested positive for Covid-19.

The Are ‘Friends’ Electric? hitmaker has delayed shows in five cities, but hopes to resume the gigs starting with his March 30 show in Tacoma.

In a statement on social media, he penned: “It is with enormous regret & frustration that I must announce the postponement of the next few shows of my N. American Intruder Tour.

“Despite our best efforts Covid has found its way into the tour personnel & we have no choice but to put the next week of the tour on hold.

“With luck we will be able to pick up the tour once again in Tacoma. Any shows that we do have to postpone we will look to play towards the end of the summer instead and we will let you know those rescheduled dates as soon as we have them.

“My sincere apologies for this unfortunate and bitterly disappointing setback. I really was beginning to think we were going to make it to the end unscathed.”

In a follow-up, he added: “For those asking, yes, I’ve got it. It’s certainly not pleasant but I dread to think what I’d be going through if it wasn’t for the vaccines and booster I’ve had.

“Get vaccinated people, it saves you from a world of suffering should you be unlucky enough to catch Covid.”

Gary is set to bring the show to the UK later this year and in a recent interview with Retro Pophe hinted at what fans can expect from the tour, teasing “big things” are in the pipeline as he readies a show for larger venues.

“I’ve long been thinking about asymmetric light shows; huge towers running on one side and something very, very different than the other,” he mused.

“I’ve been working on that for years and trying to find a way of making that work no matter where you sit, and it’s very tricky,” said Gary. “But I’ve been working on some things and this might be the time to give that a try.”
