Gary Barlow has suggested he’ll cut down on touring the future as he doesn’t want to be away from his family for long periods of time.
The Take That frontman is set to hit the road in 2021 in support of his latest solo LP, Music Played By Humans, but, according to the hitmaker, he’s “loved” being at home so much during the pandemic he’s considering putting his foot down when it comes to future live shows.
Gary – who is dad to Daniel, 20, Emily, 18, and 11-year-old Daisy with wife Dawn – told People: “In the past, I would do 150 flights a year. I’d sometimes not bother unpacking my suitcase because I’d be gone again in a few days.
“After this year, I don’t want to go back to doing what I used to do. I mean, I have really loved being at home. I’ve really loved having enough time to be around everyone and enjoy them.”
However, the Incredible singer is adamant he could never give up performing completely, as his love of getting on stage has never wained.
The star adds: “One thing that’s never faded for me is I’m still excited to come in the studio.
“I don’t know what’s going to happen. I don’t know what I’m going to write, and I’m still thrilled to walk on a stage. That’s never softened, that hasn’t.
“So, the effect music has had has never faded for me. It’s always felt special, and I hope it always will. And I think as long as it will, I’ll be here doing it.”
Gary, who teamed up with Michael Bublé and Sebastián Yatra on his recent single Elita, previously revealed he doesn’t expect Take That to reunite until 2023 – when they’ll tour alongside new movie, The Greatest Days.
“Our stage show, The Band, was spotted by a film company about a year ago,” he shared. “They’re going to shoot it in England and Italy next year so it’s properly coming.
“The best thing is, I’m not in it. I think we may get a cameo role somewhere near the end, but that will be it.”
