Franz Ferdinand are back with their brand new album ‘The Human Fear’.
Due January 10, 2025, the latest album from the Scottish rockers is their first since 2018’s ‘Always Ascending’ and is preceded by the lead single Audacious, out now.
On the track, frontman Alex Kapranos says: “It’s about having an audacious response when you feel the fabric of existence come undone around you. Being bold, contrary. Peering over the edge into the eternity of non-existence and saying Aye! Fuck it! Not today thank you!”
‘The Human Fear’ is the first album to feature members Audrey Tait and Dino Bardot, with Julian Corrie stepping forward to collaborate with Alex Kapranos and Bob Hardy on the creative process.
The 11-track LP was recorded live with the band in the room and many of the vocals on the album are original, first-time takes.
Speaking on the album, Alex adds: “Making this record was one of the most life-affirming experiences I’ve had, but it’s called ‘The Human Fear’. Fear reminds you that you’re alive.
“I think we all are addicted in some way to the buzz it can give us. How we respond to it shows how we are human. So here’s a bunch of songs searching for the thrill of being human via fears. Not that you’d necessarily notice on first listen.”
‘The Human Fear’ is out January 10 and available to pre-order from Amazon, HMV, Rough Trade and more. Listen to Audacious below.
