Everything But The Girl have scored the highest-charting album of their career with ‘Fuse’.

The first album in 24 years from Tracey Thorn and Ben Watt entered the UK charts at No. 3 this week – overtaking their previous best, 1996’s No. 4 ‘Walking Wounded’ – following a battle for No. 1 with Enter Shikari.

“We are thrilled. Our highest EVER chart position,” they tweeted. “We didn’t know what to expect when we made it. A leap of faith after all this time.

Today 'Fuse' entered the UK Album Chart at No 3. We are thrilled. Our highest EVER chart position. We didn't know what to expect when we made it. A leap of faith after all this time. Thanks to EVERYONE who has supported it. It's been quite the ride. Here's to the future 🥂🎉❤️ pic.twitter.com/2E7OXIW8Zp

“Thanks to EVERYONE who has supported it. It’s been quite the ride. Here’s to the future.”

Of course, that means the rockers hit the top spot with their seventh album, ‘A Kiss For The Whole World’, becoming their first No. 1.

“We’ve just found out that our album, A Kiss for the Whole World, is No. 1 in the Official UK Albums Chart. That’s mad,” they told OfficialCharts.com. “Thank you to everyone who streamed it, bought it and rallied round us; we appreciate you so much!

“We’re on an independent label, playing music with a very progressive message, so it’s mad that we’re up here in this position. Thank you so much. Big up, big love!”

Two Record Store Day releases – The 1975’s ‘Live With The BBC Philharmonic Orchestra’ and Taylor Swift’s ‘Folklore – The Long Pond Studio Sessions’ – at No. 2 and 4, respectively.

The Weeknd’s ‘The Highlights’ rounds out the Top 5.

Over on the Singles Chart, Ellie Goulding and Calvin Harris are back at No. 1 with Miracle, knocking last week’s No. 1 – Lewis Capaldi’s Wish You The Best – down to three.

In at No. 2 this week is David Kushner, whose breakthrough hit Daylight reaches a new peak, while Libianca’s People remains at No. 4 and Calm Down from Rema climbs back into the Top 5.
