Elton John has been forced to postpone his US concerts this week after testing positive for Covid-19.
The Tiny Dancer star, who is fully vaccinated and boosted, is experiencing only mild symptoms, according to a post on his Instagram, but has put two Dallas concerts on hold as part of his ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road’ tour.
“It’s always a massive disappointment to move shows and I’m so sorry to anyone who’s been inconvenienced by this but I want to keep myself and my team safe,” he said.
“Fortunately, I’m fully vaccinated and boosted and my symptoms are mild so I’m fully expecting to be able to make the Arkansas shows this weekend.”
Elton ended the message by thanking fans for their “love and support”.
Elton’s tour began in 2018 but dates from 2020 onwards were delayed as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, with further shows being postponed after the hitmaker suffered a fall.
It comes after the Rocket Man singer released his ‘The Lockdown Sessions’ LP, featuring big-name collaborations with Dua Lipa, Stevie Nicks, Lil Nas X and more.
In a review of the album, Retro Pop called ‘The Lockdown Sessions’ “a fitting chapter at this point in Elton’s six-decade career”.
‘The Lockdown Sessions’ is available on CD, vinyl and cassette.
