Elton John is marking the 50th anniversary of his fifth studio album ‘Honky Château’ with a new expanded reissue.
Originally released in 1972, the LP took its name from the 18th century Château d’Herouville just outside of Paris, where it was recorded.
It features iconic tracks such as Rocket Man and Honky Cat, and for the new edition it’s been enhanced with a collection of demos and live recordings.
Available on black 2LP vinyl and 2CD, along with a rare 1LP gold vinyl version, the deluxe releases include nine demos such as Mellow, Slave (an alternative fast version), Salvation and Rocket Man, with the CD also boasting Elton’s performance at The Royal Festival Hall in London on February 5th, 1972.
It sees the music icon perform songs from ‘Honky Château’ live for the first time.
The album also boasts a booklet of exclusive photographs, memorabilia and essays written by those involved in the album’s recording, with a host of additional merchandise on offer via Elton’s official store. .
