Dua Lipa is back with Illusion – the third single from her upcoming album, ‘Radical Optimism’.
Due May 3, the follow-up to 2020’s ‘Future Nostalgia’ also includes the singles Houdini and Training Season, with the latest offering co-written by Dua – who will headline this year’s Glastonbury Festival – with Caroline Ailin, Danny L Harle, Tobias Jesso Jr., and Kevin Parker.
Of the song – which was co-produced by Harle and Parker – she says: “Illusion was the first song Caroline, Danny, Tobias, Kevin and I worked on together, and it really broke the ice for the record.
“It’s about knowing what you’re getting yourself into, but staying for the hell of it. The joke’s on them, it’s the fun of playing someone at their own game because ultimately you won’t fall for an illusion.”
Alongside the single, a music video was shot at the Piscina Municipal de Montjuïc in Barcelona, Spain, showing the star performing at the pool while surrounded by dancers, high divers and synchronised swimmers.
It’s the same site where Kylie Minogue filmed the music video for her 2003 hit single Slow.

Inspired by Dua’s own self-discovery, ‘Radical Optimism’ “taps into the pure joy and happiness of having clarity in situations that once seemed impossible to face”, according to a press release.
“The hard goodbyes and vulnerable beginnings that previously threatened to crush your soul, become milestones as you choose optimism and start to move with grace through the chaos.
“‘Radical Optimism’ transports its listener to a dreamy pop world rich in musicality, lyrically unapologetic and sonically liberating.”
Celebrating the release, the superstar will play a one-off homecoming show at London’s Royal Albert Hall on October 17.
