Dolly Parton has released a cover of Tom Petty’s 1985 song Southern Accents.
Due to appear on the forthcoming ‘Petty Country: A Country Music Celebration of Tom Petty’ compilation, Parton’s rendition reimagines the song as a smooth country ballad.
“I was fortunate enough to get to know Tom over the years,” says the country icon, who also features on ‘Cowboy Carter’, the new album from Beyoncé. “He’s such an iconic artist and important songwriter. I’m so honoured to be a part of this special album and to be able to share my version of one of Tom’s best songs, Southern Accents.”
George Drakoulias, Randall Poster, and Scott Borchetta are the executive producers of the tribute album, which features Willie and Lukas Nelson, Steve Earle, Rhiannon Giddens, Chris Stapleton, Luke Combs, Midland, Margo Price and more.
