Beyoncé has covered Dolly Parton’s classic hit Jolene for her new album ‘Act II’, the country icon has let slip.
The US superstar looks set to release a version of her 1974 classic as part of the forthcoming project, which serves as a sequel to her 2022 album – the first in the ‘Renaissance’ series.
Speaking to Knox News, Dolly addressed rumours of a duet, sharing: “Well, I think she has! I think she’s recorded Jolene and I think it’s probably gonna be on her country album, which I’m very excited about that.
“I love her! She’s a beautiful girl and a great singer.”
It seems that Dolly has wanted the former Destiny’s Child star to cover the track for a while, with the 9 To 5 hitmaker adding: “We’ve kind of sent messages back and forth through the years. And she and her mother were like fans, and I was always touched that they were fans, and I always thought she was great.”
‘Act II’ features the singles Texas Hold ’Em and 16 Carriages from the project, the former of which has topped the charts worldwide, including in the UK and US.
‘Act II’ is the second part of the ‘Renaissance’ trilogy and will arrive on March 29.
