Dolly Parton is a fan of Lil Nas X’s Live Lounge cover of her 1973 hit Jolene.
The Industry Baby star stripped back the country classic for an acoustic performance, which debuted on Radio 1 last week.
It proved a hit with fans worldwide – including the country icon herself, who was “honoured and flattered” that he chose to reinterpret her track.
“I was so excited when someone told me that Lil Nas X had done my song ‘Jolene’. I had to find it and listen to it immediately… and it’s really, really good,” Dolly wrote on Instagram, alongside a snap of herself and the Old Town Road star together.
“Of course, I love him anyway. I was surprised and I’m honoured and flattered. I hope he does good for both of us. Thank you @lilnasx.”
Lil Nas X re-posted Dolly’s message and added: “HOLY S**T.”
The rapper released his debut album ‘MONTERO’ in Septemner, featuring the singles Montero (Call Me by Your Name), Sun Goes Down and That’s What I Want.
