David Bowie’s seminal LP ‘The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars’ is set to be reissued in celebration of its 50th anniversary.
Originally released back in 1972, the LP features the hits Starman and Rock ‘n’ Roll Suicide, and will be re-released via Parlophone Records on June 17.
The LP will be available as a half speed mastered LP and a picture disc, featuring the same master and a replica promotional poster for the album.
On the day that we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the release of the Starman 45, it is with pleasure that we can announce the issue of two 50th anniversary vinyl versions of David Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust album via Parlophone, on 17th June 2022. https://t.co/OH2kScVM44 pic.twitter.com/07YER606Ia

According to a press release, the LP “was cut on a customised late Neumann VMS80 lathe with fully recapped electronics from 192kHz restored masters of the original Trident Studios master tapes, with no additional processing on transfer.”
It goes on to call the project “the breakthrough album that catapulted David Bowie into the international spotlight,” adding: “Over the past 50 years it has remained a touchstone record, growing in stature with each passing year.
“It is now ingrained in popular culture, its undeniable influence spanning musicians from Arcade Fire to Lady Gaga, to Harry Styles’s androgynous fashion sense to Noel Fielding’s shirts on ‘The Great British Bake-Off’ to Ziggy make-up challenges on Tik-Tok.”
‘The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars’ 50th anniversary edition is available to pre-order now.
