A new version of David Bowie’s early single You’ve Got a Habit of Leaving has been released digitally.
The track was originally recorded in 1965 and released as a single under the name Davy Jones with his band at the time, The Lower Third.
It was re-recorded for inclusion on ‘Toy’, the planned follow-up to Bowie’s 1999 LP ‘Hours…’, but a disagreement with his former label Virgin saw the album shelves.
Now, the late music icon’s estate is releasing the collection of re-records and renditions of his early songs as part of the upcoming Era Five box set.
The fifth in the series, Brilliant Adventure (1992 – 2001), is due for release shortly, with pre-order links to follow.
According to saxophonist Donny McCaslin, there could be more unreleased music yet to be heard from Bowie, who apparently worked on tracks after wrapping his final LP ‘Blackstar’.
