The Estate of David Bowie is kicking off celebrations for his 75th birthday with the openings of two curated experiential pop-up shops.

Located in London – one at the site of the earliest confirmed Ziggy Stardust sighting – and in New York, his adopted hometown where ‘Blackstar’ was recorded, the venues preview on October 25.

They will offer visitors a unique and immersive career-spanning deep dive into the sound and vision of David Bowie, with features including:

  • Immersive audio and HD video screening rooms in partnership with 360 Reality Audio, an immersive music experience using Sony’s spatial sound technologies
  • Hours of video content including previously unseen behind-the-scenes material, rare footage from the ‘Heathen’ and ‘Reality’ eras, and more…
  • Opportunities to purchase limited edition releases of exclusive Bowie apparel and collectibles, as well as limited run LPs and CDs from both the Warner/Parlophone Records and Sony catalogues
  • Exclusive fine art photography including gallery installations documenting Bowie’s many iconic eras and personae
  • Intimate special guest events to be announced
  • Fans can place themselves in iconic costumes and set pieces to create fun and shareable social media moments.

Further details will be announced in due course.

Laura Thursfield, Customer Partnership Manager at The Crown Estate, said: “We want our spaces to be engaging and exciting, bringing new concepts and brands which complement the destination and give people new reasons to come to London’s West End.

This pop up is not only an opportunity to build on Heddon Street’s history, as the location of the album cover shoot for ‘The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars’, but a really interactive, creative approach to retail.”

Details of the two locations are as follows:

LONDON – 14 HEDDON STREET – Open Monday to Saturday 11am – 8pm, Sunday 12pm to 6pm
NEW YORK CITY – 150 WOOSTER STREET – Open seven days 11am – 7pm

The celebrations come following the release of a previously-unheard recording of You’ve Got a Habit of Leaving, lifted from the music icon’s “lost” ‘Toy‘ album.

‘Toy’ is available to pre-order on CD and vinyl, along with the ‘David Bowie 5: Brilliant Adventure‘ box set.
