Dave Gahan has “definitely thought about” ending Depeche Mode.
The group’s frontman returns this week with his Dave Gahan & Soulsavers covers collection ‘Imposter’ – and he’s enjoying doing things on his own terms.
Asked if he’d considered the end of the band he said: “I’ve definitely thought about it – I thought about it a lot during the last big tour I did with Depeche.
“Not because I wasn’t enjoying it, I was having a blast up there. But I want to be able at some point to look at the band and just leave it there – we did these great performances, made these great records and that all stands on its own merit.
“Look, I’m turning 60 next year – I know that’s not old these days. It takes a lot from me, actually, and it also takes a lot from my family, my wife, my friends, my own life,” he added, reported the Daily Star.
Depeche Mode released their latest album ‘Spirit’ in 2017.
In a review of the album, Retro Pop called ‘Imposter’ “enchanting, occasionally self-indulgent, but often brilliant listening” and “a worthy follow-up to 2015’s ‘Angels & Ghosts’”
