Darren Hayes is back with brand new music.
After wiping his social media pages earlier this month, the ex-Savage Garden star released his latest electro pop track Let’s Try Being In Love this week.
Alongside the single, he also shared a slick cinematic visual, which sees the hitmaker attending a dinner party with what appears to be his female love interest, while pining over the male host, played by Scott Evans.
“I’ve been married to Richard (Cullen) for almost 17 years,” he says. “I’m in this really comfortable place in my life.
“But at the same time at mid-life I’m grieving the fact I never got to celebrate who I really was at the period of my life where I was most famous.
“I look at this world we live in now where someone like Lil Nas X can push forward his true self, full of pride and self-love and have the chance to be loved for who he truly is.
“I was realising with great sadness that I didn’t get that experience. A lot of the time I was my most famous, I was deeply sad.”
Darren released his most recent LP, his fourth UK Top 40 effort ‘Secret Codes and Battleships’, in 2011.
He went on to release a number of standalone tracks and collaborations, including 2019’s I Never Cried So Much in My Whole Life with Cub Sport.
As one half of Savage Garden, Darren scored chart hits in the late 1990s with tracks such as To the Moon and Back and Truly Madly Deeply.
Following the duo’s split in 2001, he released his debut solo single Insatiable and accompanying album ‘Spin’, both of which peaked in the UK Top 10.
