Damon Albarn has shared his latest solo track Royal Morning Blue.
The Blur frontman will release his second LP ‘The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows’ on November 12, featuring 11 tracks that began life as an instrumental project.
Directly inspired by the view from Albarn’s position at the piano looking out over the sea, the latest song to be shared captures the wonder of rain turning into snow before his eyes.
He says: “That’s why the song opens with ‘Rain turning into snow,’ because it’s that moment, that feeling.
“In all the darkness that we have experienced, that was such a beautiful, positive thing.”
To accompany the song’s release, a new cinematic film from a series entitled ‘Sublime Boulevards – Performance Films’ has been released.
So far, Damon has released three tracks from the project – Polaris, Particles and the title song – which, according to a press release, “explore[s] themes of fragility, loss, emergence and rebirth”.
He says: “I have been on my own dark journey while making this record and it led me to believe that a pure source might still exist.”
‘The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows’ is available to pre-order now on CD and vinyl.
