Damon Albarn wants Kate Bush to collaborate with Gorillaz on new music. 

Earlier this year, the group released their eighth album, the chart-topping ‘Cracker Island’, featuring collaborations with Stevie Nicks, Tame Impala, Beck, and others. 

When asked about his dream collaborator, the group’s frontman has his sights set on another huge name. “Well, Kate Bush. That would be wonderful,” he told the Daily Star. “I’ve never formally asked, but sometimes it’s better to drop hints and hope for a reaction. But it’s almost impossible to get her out of her world.”

“I actually know where she lives because we are neighbours in Devon. If I want, I could go to her place on foot. Maybe on a stormy night, I’ll risk knocking on her door!”

Damon recently revealed the Wuthering Heights star reached out to him after Gorillaz’ divisive Glastonbury headline set in 2010 to tell him it was “one of the best shows she’d ever seen”.

Speaking at a a Q&A session with comedian Alan Carr for Banquet Records, he opened up about the performance, which saw the group step in for U2, who had to postpone their appearance after Bono injured his back.

“I realised halfway through the Gorillaz set that the audience had no idea who some of the guests that we were bring on stage were, because I wasn’t introducing them,” he said of the performance, which included appearances from of Bobby Womack, De La Soul, Lou Reed, Happy Mondays‘ Shaun Ryder, Snoop Dogg, and others. 

“The next morning a lot of terrible reviews came through. I did get a phone call from Kate Bush who said it was one of the best shows she’d ever seen. That was an amazing thing and I really needed it at that moment because I was feeling particularly vulnerable.”
