Courtney Love became emotional as she shared an acoustic cover of Britney Spears’ 2000 hit Lucky.
The Hole star has been sharing renditions of classic tunes over on her Instagram page and, returning this weekend, she took on the ballad from Britney’s second album ‘Oops!… I Did It Again’.
“Someone asked me what song I was going to cover next. I don’t have a guitar player handy, so yeah,” she said, pointing to herself.
“It’s written by one of those fantastic old Swedish people – gentleman – and it’s got like B-sharp 7th. I don’t know that s**t. OK, let’s just try it.”
Becoming visibly emotional, Courtney, who recently found herself in a feud with rising pop star Olivia Rodrigo, said towards the end of the clip: “I’m actually crying… I f**in’ hate this when it happens to me.”
Lucky was written by Max Martin, Rami Yacoub and Alexander Kronlund, and peaked at No. 23 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2000.
In the UK, the track gave Britney her sixth Top 5 hit.
The cover comes amid the Stronger star’s ongoing battle to have her 13-year-long conservatorship removed, following an emotional plea in court last month during which Britney admitted to being “traumatised” by the arrangement.
After hearing her comments, Republican congressman Matt Gaetz extended an invite to the hitmaker to appear before US Congress to explain her situation. .
Alongside Republican Congress members Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, Burgess Owens of Utah and Andy Biggs of Arizona, Gaetz reached out to the star, expressing his “deep concern” for her wellbeing.
Gaetz previously approached Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler to hold federal hearings about the singer’s case.
