The final Sugababes line-up only released two singles together before splitting in 2011 – but they’re not ruling out a return in the future.
Starring Heidi Range, Amelle Berrabah and Jade Ewen, the last iteration of the group featured no original members and only released the album ‘Sweet 7’ (2010) together before parting company.
After releasing the standalone track Freedom – which was issued as a free download for fans – they parted company, but in a new interview Amelle admitted there could be a future for the group.
Speaking to The Sun at the National Reality TV Awards, she reflected upon a potential reunion with the girls and admitted: “It could be something! I’d never say no to it.”
The singer – who joined the group in 2005 following the departure of founding member Mutya Buena – enjoyed a run of hits including Red Dress, About You Now, Girls and Get Sexy, which she’s been performing at Prides across the UK this summer.
On her return to the stage, Amelle added: “It’s something I’ve been asked for about doing for quite a long time. And I was really nervous, if I’m honest, really, really nervous.
“But then I thought, you know what, I do it for the love of performing and singing live.”
And she pointed out that all of the songs in her solo set are from her tenure with the band, minus Push The Button – which she regularly performed live with the group.
“I chose to add Push The Button because I’d sung it for like seven, nearly eight years. And it’s something that I know people want to hear,” she explained. “I even put out a post, like, I hope it doesn’t cause anything and I hope it’s about the music and we can just enjoy it for the music. So, it seems to be okay.”
Since that line-up folded, the original trio – Keisha Buchanan, Mutya Buena and Siobhan Donaghy – have reunited, releasing ‘The Lost Tapes’ in 2022 with a follow-up album due later this year.
