Cher’s classic 1975 album ‘Stars’ is getting a restored and remastered digital reissue later this month. 

The music icon confirmed her 12th LP, featuring the single Geronimo’s Cadillac – a cover of Michael Martin Murphey’s ‘72 release – will hit her official YouTube channel on July 16. 

Largely a covers album, ‘Stars’ features reworkings of tracks including Neil Young’s Mr. Soul and Janis Ian’s Stars.

It also contains Cher’s first take on The Everly Brothers’ Love Hurts – a track she later re-recorded in 1991 as the title track to her 20th studio album. 

While the majority of Cher’s catalogue is currently available on digital platforms, ‘Stars’ has long been missing from download and streaming services. 

According to Billboard, Cher owns the rights to her early Warner Bros. albums – also including ‘I’d Rather Believe In You’, ‘Cherished’ and her Allman and Woman collaboration with then-husband Greg Allman, ‘Two the Hard Way’.

None of those albums are currently available digitally. 

The reissue comes after Cher recently teased new music is on the way, including a “big” collaboration with rapper Saweetie.

“She’s a sweet girl,” she said. “I don’t know how she is with everybody else, but she and I had the best time together. And the thing that we did is going to be big.”
