Kylie Minogue has already shot the music video for her new single, cinematographer Robbie Ryan has confirmed.
According to various rumours, KM15 is weeks, if not days away, and in an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald, Robbie, who was nominated for an Academy Award for cinematography for The Favourite, teased the release.
“I was doing a Kylie Minogue video just the other day and we all had to wear masks, it’s part of the new normal,” the Irish star said.
“I don’t feel great after wearing a mask all day but if masks give us a bit more freedom, so be it.”
While Robbie didn’t name any names, his involvement hints that Kylie could have picked a frequent collaborator to direct the visual.
Both Robbie and Kylie have previously worked with directors Dawn Shadforth and Sophie Muller, and it seems likely one of the pair will be brought on board for the new era.
Kylie worked with Sophie for the bulk of the Golden era, tapping her for the videos for Dancing, the Stop Me From Falling remix, and the album’s title track. Meanwhile, Dawn last worked with Kylie during the Kiss Me Once era, and directed classics including Spinning Around and Can’t Get You Out Of My Head.
Considering she’s teased a disco album that’s “pure pop fun”, and is believed to have been working with this collaborator from the Fever era, we wouldn’t be surprised if Dawn’s brought in to help capture early 00s Kylie at her best.
Oh, and incase you missed it, here’s the logo for the new era, as shared on her website earlier this week. As we said, something’s coming soon…
