Bucks Fizz star Cheryl Baker is hoping to offer viewers a piece of the behind the scenes action with plans for a new reality TV show.
The singer, who now performs with Mike Nolan and Jay Aston as The Fizz, tells the Daily Star she’s planning to talk to TV execs about a possible new fly-on-the-wall show featuring the group.
“Our band has had such a ride over the years,” she says of the Making Your Mind Up group, which is celebrating 40 years since winning the Eurovision Song Contest in 1981 this year.
“There have been such highs and such deep down lows. So somebody should invest in that.
“I am going to be speaking to a director about the idea of us doing our own reality show.”
Adds Cheryl: “It would be an excellent idea. I’d love it to happen.”
Although the Rules of the Game star rules out a reunion with former bandmate Bobby G, she suggests he may take part in a possible programme – as long as his parts are filmed separately.
“There is so much dirty water that has gone under the bridge with Bobby G,” insists the hitmaker.
“But he might be interested in being part of a programme, so long as he wasn’t filming with us.”
The Fizz recently confirmed plans to celebrate their Eurovision victory on April 4 with a day of live stream events, including “interviews, stories from the past, songs, quizzes, unseen photos and a few surprises”.
Also in the works is a brand new coffee table book, featuring photography of the band and its members from throughout the years.
Cheryl previously teased big plans for the group in 2021, revealing: “It’s our 40th anniversary next year and we are really excited about it!
“There’s all sorts of fabulous things in the pipeline… the main thing is that we’re going into the studio with Mike Stock to do album number four for The Fizz.
It was also confirmed the group had booked a gig at Indigo at The O2 to celebrate their 40th – however the show has been put on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic.
