Cher made a surprise return to music on Wednesday, May 19 with her latest release Walls.

The track, co-written by the star’s frequent collaborator Mark Taylor, was originally recorded in 2017 to raise funds for the Free the Wild foundation, but after a live gala performance its release never materialised.

However, the singer has revisited the tune for a new digital release, which appears to coincide with her recent TV documentary ‘Cher & The Loneliest Elephant’, in which she travels to Islamabad, Pakistan to oversee Kavaan’s transfer to a sanctuary in Cambodia.

It’s yet to be confirmed whether the track is a standalone release or intended to be part of an upcoming project.

It’s been three years since the diva released ‘Dancing Queen’, her album of ABBA cover versions, off the back of her starring role in ‘Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again’.

And she recently opened up on her forthcoming 27th studio album, revealing: “I’m still working on it. It’s weird. 

“I’ve never heard an album like this before and it’s a very hit-and-miss thing because all of the songs I want to sing don’t necessarily fit my voice. 

“So I have to do like three or four songs to find one that’s the right one.”
