Cher has opened up on her 2001 album Living Proof in a previously unpublished interview exclusively obtained by RETRO POP.

Speaking back in 2018, while she was promoting her ABBA covers album Dancing Queen in LA, and she shared her love of the classic record.

When asked about Living Proof, she shared, “People didn’t get that one… You can never tell if anybody’s going to feel the same way you do or if you’re going to do something that touches somebody.

“But the one thing that I know is that if it only touched some people, I know they’re going to be really touched. I don’t know which is more important,” she explained.

“I mean, for money, of course, it’s better to touch everybody a little bit, but sometimes I think, for satisfaction, it might be nice if someone comes up and says, ‘Oh my god, on Living Proof I loved so and so and so.’”

The record has seen a new rusergence of interest, after the #Justice For Living Proof Campaign, which saw the album rocket to the No. 2 spot on the Global iTunes Chart.

Addressing her hit Song For The Lonely, which was released in the wake of the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center in New York, Cher said: “I don’t understand Song For The Lonely.

“It’s maybe the best work I ever did. And I was pretty much sure Song For The Lonely was gonna be a hit because… And if I sing it on stage, when I used to sing it on stage, people reacted to it like it was the biggest hit in the world.

“I have some songs… like Strong Enough wasn’t a hit and when I sing it, people are crazed.”

Cher added: “I really think that maybe Song For The Lonely might be my best song I’ve ever done.”

The icon recently celebrated her 74th birthday and, in honour of her big day, we’re celebrating Cher’s 5 favourite hits from her 50+ year career.
