Cher is working on a biopic to follow her new memoir – but she’s determined to keep things under wraps.
As Queen of Pop Madonna shares the process behind her forthcoming flick, Cher’s taking a different approach – and she tells the Los Angeles Times it’s all hush-hush.
“Just be excited for me,” she laugh. “Just be happy for me, OK?”
While the Believe hitmaker is reluctant to share further details, she admits, “there’s a lot of it you love and there’s some of it that wasn’t fun and you didn’t enjoy and was painful,” as she worked back through the years.
“You have to decide: How far do I want to go,” she says, adding, “But I’m pretty brave.”
Although she insists she’s not particularly learned anything about herself during the process, which she’s been engrossed in during lockdown, it’s helped her, “remember things that are not things you think about all the time”.
“And you think, ‘Do I want to put that in there?’ But if you’re going to write something like this, you’re only going to do it once. At least, I am,” she reflects.
“I have to tell you something. I could have done this memoir in volumes. But it’s going to be one big book that you’re going to need a friend to help you pick up.”
Release dates for the projects have yet to be announced.
