Cher is preparing new music for 2021.
The pop icon appeared on The One Show this week and, after sharing her delight over succeeding in her fight to free Kaavan – ‘the world’s loneliest elephant’ – she discussed her plans for the new year.
When asked by host Alex Jones, “What does 2020 mean for you, going forward… have you got some new music for us next year?,” she teased: “I’m going to have some.”
“I’ve been doing a lot,” added the Believe singer. “I did the Bobbleheads movie, I did Scooby Doo…”
Cher, who founded the non-profit Free The Wild, went on to explain she became involved in the fight to free Kaavan after fans on her Twitter page made her aware of his situation.
“The kids on my Twitter feed started driving me crazy with ‘Free Kavaan’ and I just thought, you know, I’m entertainer, how do I do this?,” explained the star.
“I thought, if I don’t pay any attention to them they’ll stop. And they didn’t.”
Taking to social media, Cher recently revealed she spent time with Kaavan and oversaw his journey to the Siem Reap International Airport, when he was transported to Cambodia.
In the clip, Cher can be seen serenading Kavaan with A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes from Cinderella, singing: “No matter how your heart is grieving, if you keep on believing, the dream that you wish will come true.”
When she finished the song, Cher asked Kavaan: “Well what do you think? It wasn’t very good, I have to say, I did my best.”
After meeting Kavaan, Cher flew with the elephant to Cambodia, where he was greeted by Buddhist monks. He had to be tested for Covid-19 before his flight.
Kaavan will live out his days in a huge jungle enclosure with other elephants.
Cher released her last album, Dancing Queen – featuring 10 ABBA cover versions – back in 2018. Her last LP of original recordings, Closer To the Truth, came in 2013.
