Cher’s classic Black Rose is reportedly set to be remastered and re-released later this year.
The album, which was released in 1980 and credited to the band Black Rose, fronted by Cher, was the star’s first commercial failure and failed to chart. However, it’s remained a fan-favourite, and a new version with two bonus tracks is apparently on the cards.
According to Instagram page cher.universe, Jon Astey – who has remastered classic albums from the likes of The Who and George Harrison – is working on the tracks for a forthcoming purple vinyl edition.
Set for release in December 2020/January 2021, the record is thought to feature classic tracks including Never Should’ve Started, Take It From The Boys and Young and Pretty, along with two unreleased songs – Desperado and I Shall Be Released.
Black Rose features contributions from legendary songwriters, including David Foster and Elton John’s frequent collaborator, Bernie Taupin.
It was previously reissued on CD in 1999.
