Britney Spears wants to collaborate with JAY-Z on a cover of Beyoncé’s 2016 track Daddy Lessons.
The song originally featured on the superstar’s sixth LP, ‘Lemonade’, and Britney is keen to team up with the rapper on a new version of the hit.
In a since-deleted post on Instagram, she wrote: “So many people have done remixes to my songs without my knowledge … so I guess it’s safe to say I will be redoing this song eventually !!!
“Just need to meet Jay-Z and add a rap to it … what’s up ??? [sic]”
Alongside the original recording, Beyoncé previously joined forces with The Chicks on a collaborative rendition of the country-leaning track.
Earlier this year, Britney and will.i.am released the long-awaited follow-up to their 2012 single, Scream & Shout, with the Black Eyed Peas star speculating she’s sitting on a host of unreleased material after his experience of working with her on Mind Your Business.
Speaking to TMZ, the rapper discussed the collaboration, revealing: “I can tell you from this experience, the fine-tuning of ‘Mind Your Business’, she sent over some ideas, like ‘Hey, put this on it’, and then I’m like ‘Yo Britney, this idea that you just gave right there is actually a new song and this is freakin’ crazy!’”
Calling Britney an “ideation machine”, the Boom Boom Pow hitmaker went on to suggest the pop superstar has a wealth of unreleased material.
“She had ideas and an idea factory. I can only imagine that Britney is sitting on a plethora of songs that she has done with different producers. I am pretty sure that her and Pharrell have stuff that is unreleased,” he said. “No artist that is that prolific, that is an ideation machine, doesn’t have a plethora of stuff.”
On the impact she continues to have when releasing new material, will.i.am continued: “The moment she goes to a studio and focuses on a record, you know it’s going to be earth shattering. It’s going to be earth shattering because there is not that many people that have been through what she has been through that are going to help folks who are in similar situations.
“Maybe she’s going to want to dig in the past or maybe, just maybe she would want to start fresh but whatever it is, it is going to be amazing. I know it.”
