The Pointer Sisters star Bonnie Pointer secretly battled liver disease prior to her death last month.
Bonnie, one of the two founding members of the group, died on June 8th, aged 69.
A death certificate obtained by TMZ reveals the hitmaker died from going into cardiac arrest – and sheds light on other underlying conditions.
According to the papers, Bonnie, suffered from liver disease for about a decade prior to her death, as well as cirrhosis of the liver.
The Grammy-winning singer’s career began in 1969 when she and her sister June began their band as a duo.
Sisters Anita and Ruth later joined, before Bonnie left and the trio found success with hits including I’m So Excited, Jump (For My Love), and Automatic.
Bonnie enjoyed a successful solo career, including her disco cover of the classic tune, Heaven Must Have Sent You.
She released three albums as a Motown Records artist and went on to marry executive Jeffrey Bowen.
The couple split in 2014 and divorced two years later.
