Björk announces rescheduled ‘Orkestral’ shows for October/November

Björk will play four orchestral shows in October/November. 

The singer originally planned to perform the gigs with members of the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra, flute septet Viibra and the Hamrahlio Choir in August 2020, but delayed the shows amid the pandemic.

Now, she;s confirmed a new set of dates, beginning October 11, which will be staged at Reykjavík’s Harpa Hall before a live audience and be livestreamed globally.

Björk will be joined by Icelandic Symphony Orchestra conductor Viktor Orri Árnason and harpist Katie Buckley, with further shows taking place on October 24 and 31, and November 15. 

Proceeds from the concerts will benefit Kvennaathvarfið, a charity that supports Icelandic women and immigrants.

Full information of the four ‘Orkestral’ dates is as follows:

OCTOBER 11
With strings from Icelandic Symphony Orchestra, conductor Victor Orri Árnason and harpist Katie Buckley 

OCTOBER 24
With Hamrahlið Choir, conductor Þorgerður Ingólfsdóttir, and organist Bergur Þórisson

OCTOBER 31 
With brass from the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra, flute septet Viibra, harpist Katie Buckley and pianist Jónas Sen 

NOVEMBER 15
With 15 piece chamber ensemble strings from Iceland Symphony Orchestra and conductor Victor Orri Árnason

Tickets are on sale now.

The Army of Me star is also set to bring her ‘Orkestral’ show to the UK, and has been confirmed as the first headliner for the Bluedot Festival 2022, where she’ll perform with the Halle Orchestra at Jodrell Bank Observatory in Macclesfield, England. 

The show will feature a unique visual display with video animation projected onto the 76-metre wide Lovell Telescope at the UNESCO World Heritage site.
