Beyoncé enlisted her daughter Blue Ivy to help her open the 2022 Academy Awards.

The hitmaker kicked off proceedings by belting out her track Be Alive, from the soundtrack to the movie ‘King Richard’.

The pre-recorded performance took place from the tennis court in Compton, California, where Serena and Venus Williams once practised.

For the show, Beyoncé, her band and her backup dancers wore neon yellow outfits – in the style of tennis balls – with the musicians also using vibrantly-coloured instruments.

Be Alive was nominated for the Best Original Song prize at the ceremony, but lost out to Billie Eilish’s No Time to Die from the James Bond movie of the same name.

Despite appearing on numerous soundtracks, Beyonce has been snubbed by the Academy in the past and has yet to win the prestigious award.

She was expected to earn an Oscar for her song Spirit from ‘The Lion King’ soundtrack, but the 2021 prize ultimately went to H.E.R. for Fight For You from Judas and the Black Messiah and Beyonce failed to make the shortlist.

And while her song Listen from ‘Dreamgirls’ was shortlisted back in 2007, only Henry Krieger, Anne Preven and Scott Cutler were eligible due to Academy rules.
