Betty Boo’s comeback just got doubly exciting as she confirmed two new albums are on the way.
It’s been 30 years since the artist released her second LP ‘GRRR! It’s Betty Boo’ in 1992 and, speaking ahead of the premiere of comeback track Get Me To The Weekend, she opened up on her forthcoming material.
During an interview with Rylan on BBC Radio 2, she revealed: “Just before lockdown, I started writing an album with an amazing writer and producer called Andy Wright and I haven’t really looked back…”
“I’ve written two albums with him,” she added, “that are gonna be coming out after a few more singles.”
The first album is due early Summer and features Get Me To The Weekend, which samples Love Action by The Human League.
Of the track, she explained: “During lockdown, every day merged into one and you didn’t think the weekend was coming.
“I just thought, I’ve got to write a tune about that, thinking about going out, having a holiday…
“Andy and I wrote the tune and then we got back into the studio and thought, ‘You know what would sound really great with that, the Love Action Human League bassline.’
“We tried that and it worked a treat. We thought, ‘We’ve got to keep it, it’s a banger!’ That’s how that came about.
“And then we just ended up writing the rest of the album and I’ve written a second album as well. So I’ve got lots of music to come.”
