Belinda Carlisle has delayed her 2021 UK and Ireland tour dates.
The Leave a Light On star was due to hit the stage in October/November this year for her ‘Decades’ Tour, which coincided with the reissues of her classic albums ‘Belinda’, ‘Live Your Life Be Free’ and ‘A Man and A Woman’.
However, due to concerns over Covid and its effect on touring, the Go-Go’s singer has moved her Irish shows to July 2022 and the UK dates to February 2023.
“It is with great regret that we must announce the postponement of Belinda’s UK and Irish ‘Decades’ tour, which was originally scheduled for October and November 2021,” reads a statement from her management.
“The Irish dates will be moved to July 2022 and the UK dates will move to February 2023.”
They continued: “Please understand that this was by no means an easy decision to make, not least because of all the work that has already gone into organising this tour, but we feel that the circumstances surrounding the resumption of full-scale, weeks long touring are still too uncertain for us to be able go ahead in a safe, responsible manner.
“The outlook will of course change over time and hindsight may prove us unduly cautious, but Belinda has a large number of freelance professionals working for her and it would not be fair either to them or to you the ticket holders to make such a momentous decision at the last moment.
“Add to this the fact that Belinda is in a red list country and we are still unable to insure her shows against Covid related cancellation and we really felt we had no other option.
“We understand that some people may disagree with this decision however we always try to work in a pro-active manner and felt it better to make the call now rather than wait until late September and then perhaps be forced to do so.
“Belinda is of course extremely disappointed about this, she has not performed anywhere for over eighteen months now and very much misses being on stage but she also wants to keep everyone safe, so she has reluctantly accepted our advice on this. She sends you all her deepest apologies for this turn of events and hopes everyone stays well.”
Original tickets will be honoured for the new dates, which have all been rescheduled except for the In Too Deep hitmaker’s stop in Bexhill-On-Sea, which has unfortunately been cancelled. Ticket holders are advised to contact their point of purchase for a refund.
While celebrating 35 years of her solo career, Belinda will release a new compilation LP later this year to coincide with National Album Day.
Due October 16, ‘Nobody Owns Me’ features tracks from the star’s classic albums ‘Heaven on Earth’, ‘Live Your Life Be Free’ and ‘Real’, along with a new recording of The Youngbloods’ 1966 track Get Together.
