Barbra Streisand and Donna Summer’s iconic hit No More Tears (Enough is Enough) is being used as the soundtrack a new LGBTQ+-targeted campaign ahead of November’s presidential election.
Bosses at progressive Democratic organisation MeidasTouch and Vote Proud, a voting initiative for the LGBTQ+ community, is hoping to encourage people to get out and have their say with the Enough is Enough campaign.
In a press release, the track’s co-writer Bruce Roberts said: “I wrote Enough is Enough many years ago. Barbra Streisand and Donna Summer recorded it and had a global No. 1 record, selling millions. And all these years later it has become an anthem for change and equality in America today.
“I am proud to be working with MeidasTouch on this initiative to spread the message using my song.”
Vote Proud was founded by Bruce Roberts, Lisa Halliday and Jake Resnicow and is co-chaired by stars including Sharon Stone, Elton John and David Furnish, Billy Porter, Sean Hayes, Andy Cohen, Lisa Rinna and Laverne Cox, among others.
No More Tears (Enough is Enough) was released by the divas in 1979 for Streisand’s Wet album and also as a new track for Summer’s compilation double album On the Radio: Greatest Hits Volumes I & II.
It topped the Billboard Hot 100 and reached No. 3 in the UK.
