Producer Ian Little opens up on the creation of Duran Duran’s ‘Seven and the Ragged Tiger’ in his new book.

Released April 21, ‘Baptism of Fire: Living And Working With Duran Duran’ recalls how Ian lucked into minding Roxy Music’s studio while the band were on the road and began his ascent in the music business.

By the time they returned, he had a record contract and had released his own single, and was promoted to production assistant for their swansong ‘Avalon’.

He went on to meet Duran Duran and they chose Ian to produce the album during which time they travelled to Sri Lanka, the south of France, New York, Montserrat and Sydney, to create one of the defining albums of the ‘80s.

The LP is Duran Duran’s last to feature the group’s original line-up before their 2004 comeback with ‘Astronaut’ and includes the singles Union of the Snake, New Moon on Monday and The Reflex.

Featuring a foreword by Hazel O’Connor, the book details his meteoric rise, a too-much-too-soon spiral into addiction and homelessness in the years that followed, and his fight to get life back on track.

‘Baptism of Fire: Living And Working With Duran Duran’ is available to pre-order.
