Backstreet Boys shared a New Year post with fans teasing plans to celebrate the group’s 30th anniversary.
The band – starring Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, AJ McLean, and cousins Brian Littrell and Kevin Richardson – was formed in 1993 on the back of an ad placed in the Orlando Sentinel by record executive Lou Pearlman.
With the premise of forming a vocal group with a New Kids on the Block look and Boyz II Men sound, it would be two years before the five-piece rose to fame with their international debut album, ‘Backstreet Boys’ (1996).

Alongside a group photo, they added: “Happy New Year everybody. Looking forward to seeing you guys around the world & to celebrating 30 years of BSB. Can you believe it?!”

Most recently, Backstreet Boys released their holiday LP ‘A Very Backstreet Christmas’, featuring renditions of White Christmas, Silent Night, and Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas, along with originals Christmas In New York, Together, and Happy Days.
Of the LP, Retro Pop wrote in a review: “On paper, a Backstreet Boys Christmas album could go one of two ways, so it’s the most pleasant of surprises that ‘A Very Backstreet Christmas’ is so good and a reminder that, ahead of the band’s 30th anniversary next year, they’re remain as strong as ever.”
‘A Very Backstreet Christmas’ is available now.
