Ava Max’s new music is inspired by ABBA.
The pop star has sampled the group’s disco classic Lay All Your Love on Me on her latest track Emotions but, according to The Sun, the group has yet to clear the sample.
“Ava adores ABBA and wanted to pay homage to them with Emotions,” revealed an insider. “It feels like it could be a smash hit for her, especially given ABBA popularity right now, but so far the sample hasn’t been signed off by ABBA.”
They added: “It’s possible she will never be able to release it.”
The group is notoriously protective of its music; Madonna only got her sample of their hit Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight) approved for her single Hung Up after writing directly to the band.
ABBA are on track to top the UK Albums Chart with their comeback LP ‘Voyage’, which has become the fastest-selling album in four years.
In a review of the album, Retro Pop called ‘Voyage’ “a fitting closing chapter in the tale of Sweden’s best-loved musical export”.
‘Voyage’ is available on CD, vinyl and cassette.
