Atomic Kitten are on track to return to the Top 40 of the UK Singles Chart with Southgate You’re the One (Football’s Coming Home Again).
The track, a reworking of their 2001 smash Whole Again, was released last week in support of the England football team, who finished as runners up in the Euro 2020 final on Sunday.
It saw Natasha Hamilton and Liz McLarnon reunite with Jenny Frost, who left the band in 2005, and became an anthem for the team’s success.
According to early figures from the Official Charts Company, the track is currently sitting at No. 10 in the first midweek chart countdown, setting the girls on track for their first Top 40 hit in 16 years.
Last week, the track debuted at No. 86 on the chart after just three days of release.
While a chart placement would be a triumph for the group’s comeback, it could also pave the way for more new music, which Liz recently hinted could be on the horizon.
“Let’s see what happens,” she said. “The public have welcomed us back, which is lovely, so if it’s something that will have legs then there is a conversation to be had.”
