Erasure star Andy Bell’s acclaimed musical side-project is coming to vinyl.
The strictly limited edition, vinyl-only release based on his Andy Bell is Torsten project – titled Club Torsten! – is pressed on translucent shocking pink vinyl, with only 500 copies being issued worldwide.
It’s dubbed as a celebration of the uplifting, dancier, synth-pop side of Bell’s musical output, featuring hits including I Don’t Like, Fountain of Youth and Weston-Super-Mare.
Tracks are taken from the dance-orientated remix trilogy Variance I, II and III, the first volume of which is long out of print, with producers including Matt Pop, Bronski Beat, Barry Harris, Shelter and Dancing With Ruby offering up their takes on the tunes. Erasure’s Vince Clarke, with whom Bell released the group’s acclaimed 18th album The Neon in 2020, also features.
Club Torsten! also has three brand new synth-pop dance remixes – two Electro-Noir remixes by Danish synth-scene stalwarts SoftWave plus an exclusive remix of Judgement by Cyber Monday.
The album sleeve illustration is a specially commissioned artwork designed by illustrator Meriel Waissman. It depicts Bell in his revered role as Torsten, surrounded by choice props from his iconic stage shows of that era.
