Alicia Keys is among the big-name acts who have reworked their classic hits as ASMR tracks.
The singer joins Tom Jones, James Blunt and more stars, who have transformed one of their iconic hits into the format for the Deezer streaming service.
ASMR tracks, which gained popularity in recent years on YouTube, use sounds like breathing, tapping and whispering to trigger a physical or emotional response.
“ASMR content is becoming increasingly mainstream and Deezer has seen consumption of it increase by 248 per cent worldwide since the start of 2020,” Nigel Harding, Deezer’s VP of global artist marketing, tells Music Week.
“Given the appetite of our users for that head-tingling feeling, we decided to take things one step further.
“We’re proud to unveil our ASMR Sessions, which give fans a new unexpected twist on the genre, featuring some of the world’s biggest artists bringing their lyrics to life with an intensity you’ve never heard before.”
Alicia has prepared a new recording of her breakout hit Fallin’, while Tom has re-recorded What;s New Pussycat and James has reworked You’re Beautiful.
Meanwhile, Ava Max’s Kings & Queens has been recreated with a “chilled beach and waves vibe,” and rocker Yungblud used heartbeats and water drips for the ASMR edition of his single Parents.
The ASMR Sessions are available to stream on Deezer’s new ASMR Channel.
