Alexandra Burke is set to star in a new Tina Turner-inspired biopic.
According to The Sun, the singer, who won ‘The X Factor’ in 2008 and scored hits including Bad Boys, All Night Long and The Silence, will front the film, which is being made by the BBC and the British Film Institute (BFI).
The project centres on a “young musician trying to land her big break,” with sources revealing Alexandra will perform a handful of Tina’s most iconic hits as part of the project.
“To say Alex is excited is an understatement,” insiders reveal. “And after the year the acting industry has had, with no touring or theatres open, this couldn’t have been better news for her.
“Alex has got the voice and she showed what a great actor she is as a leading West End actress for the past seven years.”
Aside from her pop career, the Hallelujah singer has received acclaim for starring roles in West End musicals such as ‘The Bodyguard’ and ‘Sister Act’.
It’s been three years since Alexandra released her third studio album ‘The Truth Is’, scoring the star her third UK Top 20 LP.
According to recent reports, she’s been back in the studio working on the follow-up to the project, with Sky Adams – who has worked with Kylie Minogue in the past – onboard for the record.
