Alan Cumming is up for reprising his role as film director Piers Cuthbertson-Smyth in a sequel to Spice Girls’ hit movie ‘Spice World’

The group topped the UK box office and broke the record for the highest-ever weekend debut for Super Bowl weekend in the US with the flick, originally released in 1997.

Harry Styles returns with fourth studio album ‘Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally.’

It starred Mel B, Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton, Melanie C and Geri Horner in a series of fictional events leading up to a major concert at London’s Royal Albert Hall, including being stalked by Cumming’s character, who hopes to use them as subjects for his next project.

Almost 25 years since its debut, the actor would love to reunite with the singers for a second instalment of the franchise.

He told The Daily Telegraph: “I would jump at the chance. They haven’t asked me and I’m sure they’re not going to, but it would be fun. I love those girls.”

Despite there being no confirmation of a potential sequel, it was recently reported the group is in the early stages of masterminding a follow-up project.

“The girls have been talking about how to mark the film’s anniversary and are actively considering making a tongue-in-cheek sequel,” an insider revealed.

“They have approached a screenwriter who is considering working on the project and making tentative steps forward.

“It is still in the early stages but they are talking to established names in the business, which proves they are taking a big screen comeback seriously.”

To celebrate their 25th anniversary, the group recently released a four-track ‘Wannabe 25’ EP, featuring the classic single, written by Biff Stannard and Matt Rowe, plus new track Feed Your Love, co-written by the pair along with Spice Girls.

And Emma Bunton recently admitted she’s keen to hit the studio and record some new tracks with the group, sharing: “I love writing with the girls, we have such a laugh in the studio.”

Mel B also discussed the possibility of new music from the group, revealing: “We’ve been more about the lines of doing music together and hopefully getting the tour up and running because everything got shut down because of lockdown.

“My aim is for us to get back together and do some more songs together – and hopefully getting up on stage and entertaining everybody again.”
