Absolute Radio will celebrate the legendary Isle of Wight festival next month with a weekend of special programming.
The event had been set to be headlined by the likes of Lionel Richie and Duran Duran, before it was cancelled due to Covid-19.
Instead, Absolute Radio will celebrate the festival by revisiting classic performances for a special weekend of radio shows.
“Unfortunately, the real festival isn’t happening this year, so here at Absolute Radio we’ll be celebrating Isle of Wight Festival on air with a Front Room Festival from Friday 12th to Sunday 14th June 2020,” they announced.
On Friday, the station will air highlights from Paul McCartney’s 2010 set, Fleetwood Mac’s 2015 performance, as well as clips from acts including Depeche Mode and Blondie.
Saturday will feature David Bowie’s final UK performance, when he closed Isle of Wight Festival in 2004, as well as performances from Texas, Iggy Pop, and The Police.
Rounding off the weekend, the station will play Rolling Stones’ set from 2007 and The Who’s feted performance at the third Isle of Wight Festival back in 1970.
Tune in from 7pm UK time from June 12 to 14 here.
