ABBA are reissuing their classic ‘Gold’ greatest hits collection on coloured vinyl later this Spring.
With sales in excess of 30 million, ‘Gold’ is the best-selling ABBA album and the 23rd best-selling album worldwide, featuring classic hits including Dancing Queen, Mamma Mia, Voulez-Vous and Waterloo.
The LP has been issued a number of times since its initial 1992 release – notably in 1999 as the first remastered reissue to mark the group’s 25th anniversary of winning the Eurovision Song Contest and in 2008 to coincide with the release of the film ‘Mamma Mia!’ – and it’s now getting another vinyl pressing.
Due for release on April 30, the new pressing comes housed in a gatefold sleeve and is pressed on 2LP gold coloured vinyl.
It features the original track listing, featuring hits like Knowing Me, Knowing You, Take a Chance on Me, Chiquitita and Does Your Mother Know and is available to pre-order now.
ABBA last released new music in 1982 and have long been teasing a handful of new tracks, which are currently due for release this year.
Speaking to journalist Geoff Lloyd on his podcast Reasons To Be Cheerful, musician Björn Ulvaeus explained the group have five new songs which are planned to drop soon.
George revealed: “I got to spend an hour with Bjorn Ulveaus from ABBA via Zoom. They’ve recorded five new songs.
“They should have been out at the end of last year. They’re going to get these holograms out on tour,” he explained, according to Daily Mail.
“Because of technical difficulties and the pandemic, it’s delayed things. But he promised me that the new ABBA music will be out in 2021.”
Two song titles, I Still Have Faith In You and Don’t Shut Me Down, have been confirmed.
