ABBA have delayed the release of a new trailer for their ‘Voyage’ live shows after tragedy struck at a recent tribute concert.
The incident occurred at the Konsert & Kongress hall in the Swedish city of Uppsala, at around 7 pm local time on Tuesday evening, when a man in his 80s fell seven floors to his death.
Another man aged in his 60s also died, while an attendee was hospitalised with non-life threatening injuries.
Magnus Jansson Klarin, a police spokesperson, said: “We received a call about someone having either jumped or fallen from a high altitude.”
He said officers were investigating the fall but “currently had no reason to think a crime had been committed in relation to the man’s fall,” according to The Independent.
The show was subsequently called off and, ahead of the release of their first album in 40 years, ABBA postponed the release of a trailer for their new digital concerts out of respect.
The ABBA Voyage account tweeted: “In the light of the tragic news at the tribute concert in Sweden last night, we have decided to hold off on releasing our concert trailer until tomorrow.”
Following the global announcement of new music from the Swedish supergroup, ‘Voyage’ broke Universal Music UK’s record for the biggest ever album pre-order, racking over 80,000 UK sales to date.
‘Voyage’ is available to pre-order now on CD, vinyl and cassette.
