Mariah Carey has declared “It’s time” for the holidays – and maybe the release of her lost grunge album too.
The diva shared her annual video marking the beginning of the festive season across her social channels on November 1, with this year’s clip starting at a club in New York on Halloween, with a performance of the as-yet-unreleased song ‘Hermit’.
Written by Carey in the mid-90s, the track was included on the album ‘Someone’s Ugly Daughter’ by the band Chick, which was a collaboration with her friend Clarissa Dane.
The ‘Fantasy’ singer didn’t reveal her involvement in the project until the release of her 2020 memoir.
As the performance wraps, the screen transforms into a winter wonderland, with Carey all in red as she sings in her signature whistle tone “It’s time” as ‘All I Want for Christmas is You’ plays.
The chart-topper recently hinted that the version of the album featuring her vocals may materialise soon, telling fans in a chat on Reddit: “I get asked this about once a week and my answer is…#notyet (this is a hint!)”
